Quick answer
The best SIG Sauer for concealed carry is the P365 for most people: 10+1 rounds of 9mm in a 5.8 × 4.3-inch, 17.8-ounce micro-compact with manual-safety and optics-ready versions. Choose the P365-XL for a longer grip and slide with 12+1, or the P365-XMACRO for 17+1 in a gun still only 1.1 inches wide. The P320 Compact is a fine duty-size pistol but is bigger than the P365 line and has drawn safety scrutiny; for carry, stay in the P365 family.
SIG’s P365 did more than any other pistol to define modern concealed carry: it proved a gun this small could hold 10 or more rounds. Since 2018 the family has grown into a full range of sizes that share magazines, holsters (within size groups) and a serialized fire-control unit you can move between grip modules. That makes “which SIG” mostly a question of how much grip and capacity you can conceal.

Which SIG to carry
SIG Sauer P365

| Caliber | 9mm |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 10 rounds |
| Barrel | 3.1 in |
| Length × height | 5.8 × 4.3 in |
| Width | 1.1 in |
| Weight | 17.8 oz |
| Manual safety | Optional |
| Optics-ready | Some models |
| Price | $500 MSRP |
The original and still the easiest P365 to hide. SIG’s own pages list it at 1.1 inches wide and 17.8 ounces; it ships with 10-round magazines and accepts 12- and 15-round extended magazines. Pick the -MS version if you want a thumb safety, and an optics-ready slide if you might add a red dot.
SIG Sauer P365-XL

| Caliber | 9mm |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 10/12 rounds |
| Barrel | 3.7 in |
| Length × height | 6.6 × 4.8 in |
| Width | 1.1 in |
| Weight | 20.7 oz |
| Manual safety | Optional |
| Optics-ready | Yes |
| Price | $570 MSRP |
The XL adds a longer grip (12+1 flush) and a 3.7-inch barrel for a longer sight radius, at 20.7 ounces. Most shooters with medium or large hands shoot it noticeably better than the standard P365, and it is still a 1.1-inch-wide gun that hides inside the waistband.
SIG Sauer P365-XMACRO

| Caliber | 9mm |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 10/17 rounds |
| Barrel | 3.7 in |
| Length × height | 6.6 × 5.2 in |
| Width | 1.1 in |
| Weight | 22.0 oz |
| Manual safety | Optional |
| Optics-ready | Yes |
| Price | $720 MSRP |
Seventeen rounds flush in a 22-ounce gun that is as thin as the P365. The grip is compact-length, so it prints more than its siblings, but it is the easiest P365 to shoot fast. The COMP version (3.1-inch barrel, integral compensator) reduces muzzle flip; a California COMP model joined the state roster in September 2026.
About the P320: should you carry one?
Search results for SIG are full of P320 questions — is it banned, does it go off on its own — because the P320 has been the subject of many lawsuits alleging unintended discharges, a voluntary upgrade program SIG launched in 2017 (new trigger, sear and disconnector), jury verdicts against SIG in some cases, and decisions by some police departments to replace it. There is no mandatory recall, the P320 is not banned for civilian sale in the United States, and SIG maintains the pistol will not fire without a trigger pull. We leave the P320 off our carry picks mainly because the P365 family does the concealed carry job in a smaller package; if you own a P320, make sure it has had SIG’s upgrade, carry it only in a holster that fully covers the trigger, and follow SIG’s guidance.
SIG or Glock?
Both are reliable, well-supported choices. SIG’s advantage is capacity for size — nothing from Glock matches the P365-XMACRO’s 17 rounds at 1.1 inches — plus manual-safety options and the modular fire-control unit. Glock’s advantages are simplicity, a slightly cheaper price and the largest aftermarket in the industry. Compare the two in our best Glock for concealed carry guide and the best micro-compact 9mm roundup.

FAQ
What SIG Sauer is best for concealed carry?
The P365 for most people, thanks to its 10+1 capacity in a 1.1-inch-wide, 17.8-ounce frame with manual-safety and optics-ready options. The P365-XL suits larger hands and the P365-XMACRO offers 17+1 at the same width.
Which is better, the SIG P320 or P365?
For concealed carry, the P365: it is far smaller and lighter. The P320 is a duty-size pistol better suited to home defense, duty or competition; its compact versions can be carried but are larger than the whole P365 family.
Is the SIG P320 banned?
No. The P320 is legal to buy and own in the U.S. and there is no mandatory recall. Some police departments and ranges have replaced or restricted it after lawsuits alleging unintended discharges, and SIG has offered a voluntary upgrade since 2017. SIG maintains the pistol will not fire without a trigger pull.
What is the most popular SIG handgun?
The P365. It was the best-selling handgun of 2025 on GunBroker according to GunGenius sales data, ahead of the Glock 19 and 43X. The P320, adopted by the U.S. Army as the M17/M18, is SIG’s best-known duty pistol.
Is the SIG P365 safe to carry?
Yes. The P365 has a striker safety and optional manual safety, has been on the market since 2018, and is one of the most widely carried pistols in the country. As with any striker-fired gun, carry it in a holster that completely covers the trigger.
